Beliefs of Indians
The most known belief in India is The Cast System. It is like having the Classes in America but a lot more severe. They have people who are treated like gods to people who are treated worse than animals. The Hindus believe in rebirth and reincarnation of a soul. According to them when the soul goes through the process of reincarnation, It becomes animals like cows. Due to this belief, they do not eat beef. They also believe in Karma. It means that if you a good person in your lifetime, you would reach Brahma, the ultimate god. If not you will have t go through the cast system. |
Religions in India
The most dominant religion in India is Hinduism, with approximately 80% of the population. It is a polytheistic religion, meaning they have gods and goddess, but they also have the ultimate god (Brahma). Hinduism is one of the ancient religions in the world. It is supposed to have developed about 5000 years ago. There is also Buddhism and Jains. Today about 0.5% of Indians are Jains and about 0.7% are Buddhist Then another 2% of Christians. |
